Rental Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 21 October 2025

Bocarrental.com shows you cars that local companies own. Each company writes its own rules. Your price sheet lists those rules word-for-word. Read the sheet so you know how car hire on the island normally works.

DRIVER REQUIREMENTS

Before you collect the car you must:

  • Hand over a driver licence that is still valid.
  • Have held that licence for one full year or longer.
  • Be old enough: most companies want drivers aged 21. For some a valid drivers license (18) will do
  • Write every driver on the contract: Anyone not listed has no insurance.
  • Show an international driving permit if your licence uses letters outside the Latin alphabet.

RATES AND INCLUSIONS

The price you accept normally covers:

  • Use of the car for the booked days.
  • The basic insurance the island law demands.
  • Local taxes and the usual airport or office fees.
  • All the kilometres you need: Most firms remove the mileage cap.

You pay extra if you want a child seat or more insurance. The quotation email will list every add-on and its cost.

SECURITY DEPOSIT AND PAYMENT

When you meet the representative the company blocks a deposit on the main driver's credit card. The sum depends on the car and on the cover you pick. The block is lifted after you bring the car back undamaged.

Some car rentals have a no-deposit policy. Most use authorization on a credit card. Some allow cash and others require a deposit via PayPal or Tikkie.

INSURANCE AND COVERAGE

Every hire comes with the minimum insurance the law requires. Most companies also give or sell, extras on top of this base insurance.

The amount each policy pays and the sum you must pay first (the excess), change from company to company and from car to car. Our quotation request reply will state exactly what you receive. If you have any questions please let us know we're at your disposal 24/7

VEHICLE USE

You are only allowed to drive it with the people specified on your rental agreement, and must adhere to all local traffic laws, when renting a vehicle.

Unless explicitly stated, you're not allowed to drive the car off-road, nor on the beach. Make sure you lock the car when it's left unattended, and return it in the same condition you received it in to avoid any additional cleaning or repair charges.

MILEAGE POLICY

All rentals come with an unlimited mileage policy.

FUEL POLICY

Fueling varies, the standard policy is Full to Full, where you'll get the car with a full tank and are asked to return it in the same way. If however, you do return with less fuel, your provider will fill up the tank at your expense. A small number of our vehicles use a Same to Same policy or a Prepaid Fuel option, shown in your quote.

PICKUP AND RETURN

When picking up your rental, we will require your driver’s license, credit card and booking confirmation. Return your car at the agreed location and time. If you're running late, call the supplier.

CLEANING AND CONDITION

We expect you to not smoke in the car, remove any rubbish, sand and dirt before dropping off and do not vacuum anything. Be aware that a cleaning fee may be applied to your bill if the vehicle requires additional cleaning, when renting a car with Bocarrental.com.

FINES AND VIOLATIONS

Parking and traffic fines are your responsibility and the supplier will charge you an administrative fee for processing penalties.

JEEP AND WRANGLER RENTALS

Jeep and Wrangler rentals have different deposit amounts, insurance policies and sometimes special restrictions, check your quote for the details.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Most bookings let you cancel up to the time before picking up the vehicle. It's free.

DISPUTES AND GOVERNING LAW

Each rental agreement is governed by the local laws of the supplier, and Bocarrental.com isn’t responsible for anything that happens with the car’s insurance or damage, but we can help you communicate with the supplier if problems arise.
